EB-5 visa is an investment immigration program that allows foreign investors to obtain permanent residence (green card) in the United States. The program is designed to encourage capital inflow and job creation in the US economy. There are two main investment options for EB-5 visa: $800,000 for Targeted Employment Area (TEA) or $1,050,000 for standard investment. TEA is defined as areas with high unemployment rates or rural areas. Your investment must create at least 10 full-time jobs. EB-5 application is a complex process and typically takes 2-3 years. First, you need to get your investment project approved with Form I-526. After approval, you receive a conditional green card. Two years later, you apply for unconditional green card with Form I-829 by proving jobs were created. EB-5 investment can be risky, so choosing a reliable Regional Center or direct investment project is critically important. Working with an experienced immigration attorney is strongly recommended.
